Okay ladies and gents. Here's the tea. Uzalo actress Gugu recently started "embracing" her natural hair and inspiring her instagram followers to do the same. I believe it is lovely that she is motivating young girls to embrace their beautiful natural hair. You go sis! She says "I used to wear wigs because I just didn’t feel beautiful without them". Let's talk about that for a second. Does every woman feel like this though? No

My perspective has changed over the years. Believe it or not, both weaves and natural hair are extremely expensive, except weaves aren't as time consuming. Let's take for instance the products Gugu Gumede uses on her hair.

Most people slam girls for not "embracing their natural hair". Do even know how much that costs? How time consuming it is for any remotely busy lifestyle? Sometimes it's honestly not as complicated as it seems. Did it ever cross your mind that women relax or cover their hair for convenience? Some women have no curl pattern so they actually cannot grow an afro. Some women suffer from alopecia areata.

Why do women have to explain themselves for their hairstyle or beauty preferences? If you want to keep your natural hair do you sis, if you want to relax it go ahead.
